Product Description:

The K8v7 GPS GPRS unit is a high performance GPS monitoring tool designed by KNOSOS in the course of 2005. It enables the GPS localization of a vehicle and the transmission of its location to the control centre, whilst optimizing GPRS and SMS communication channels’ resources and configuring the users policy for each network service.

Versatile unit
The K8v7 GPS GPRS unit has been designed to be used either in conjunction with the MicroNAV® Platform Solution (MPS) system, or with external GIS based corporate applications. For GPRS it uses the standard protocol TCP/IP and for SMS it uses datagram messages to send all the required information in real time.

The equipment integrates digital inputs and outputs, which may be extended to include additional digital and analogic inputs and outputs, in order to perform telemetry, sensorization and telecontrol on the vehicles.

The K8v7 unit sends both GPS streams (position, instant speed, direction and time) and data streams generated by an external device (sensorization modules, data terminals or PDA terminals), which will be shown on the control centre’s application.

The K8v7 unit carries the automotive type approval "e" mark, 95/54CE for motor vehicles and 89/366/EEC, 92/59/CEE for electromagnetic compatibility.

The K8v7 unit allows for the use of peripherals (printers, data terminals, scales, etc.) by serial port. In the same way it can be programmed to work on a dual basis with the TETRA o TETRAPOL communication systems and can also be integrated with WIFI/Bluetooth communications.

Adaptable to any vehicle
Thanks to its reduced size and compact and solid structure, the K8v7 unit is the ideal equipment for the most demanding of applications. It combines state of the art technology with tremendously straightforward installation. What’s more, it has been designed in such a way as to minimize electrical consumption by the partially switching off of certain elements.

Maximum functionality
The R&D department personalises the software recorded in the unit, in keeping with the application, therefore achieving the required functionality and adapting it in the best possible way to the communication channel.

  1. 1. The K8 unit is reprogrammable from the base station so that it is able to send GPS positions by distance travelled, by the time taken and by a mixture of both measurements.
  2. 2. The equipment’s serial port NMEA supplies NMEA-0183 streams that are compatible with GPS based navigators on Mobile POCKET PC® platforms or similar.

The system enables the memorization and storing of routes, in addition to alerting the control centre when key predefined positions are reached.
